Pictures From (Mostly) Today

This is a drawing of an idea I've been thinking about. We'll see if it goes anywhere. I wanted to post some of these pictures today because I'm trying to practice more to get more consistency in my drawings and forms. I've figured out a new method of constructing the body that I've been using, and I'm very happy with it. Now I just need to practice.

The next two drawings I did in church today, which is why they're in pen and why you can see the other drawings through the page. I didn't expect them to be something I'd want to save, but they were.

Finally, this is a drawing I did a few days ago in class. I like how this new method of constructing the head and body lets me put the shoulders in a place that feels more natural. I've also figured out here how to change the perspective on the eyes by drawing them along a slight curve.

I really needed a break this week. I'm really glad I got to the weekend. Praise God! Thank you God. You're the best.

10CD Sketches

Doing something a little different. I've been practicing online drawing in Photoshop with my wacom tablet, and I'm a lot happier with what I can do on it now. Photoshop used to give me a really hard time. I don't know what was going on, but I made this.

These are a few drawings set in a book idea I had and started writing before I realized historical realism is really stinking hard. I might get back to it once I've done more research, but tonight I thought I would draw these pictures.

The top two pictures are of two characters from the book. The one on the right is the first one I drew. Her name is Fionola. She's really the main character of the book. To draw these, first I sketched out what I wanted in grey, then went to a different layer and redid what I wanted in black. Basic stuff, yes, but an important step in my journey. Anyway, I felt the final drawings lacked a certain energy that the sketches did, so I added in some stray lines around parts of the final drawings I wanted to emphasize.

The drawing on the bottom is a sketch of one of the characters after he lands in, spoilers, the future. I actually like leaving it like this, because it gives it more of an uncertain, imaginative quality that makes sense for the future. Plus it's late tonight, let's be honest.

Doing digital drawing with my tablet was really fun! I must confess.

Anyway, thank you, God. This was really awesome to do today. Thanks for everything. I love you.
