Digital Lighting

This is a lighting exercise I'm working on for my graduate Digital Lighting class. My teacher called me out specifically because of how he liked this image. That made me feel happy, so I thought I would include it on this blog. It's not the final image, but I thought I would put it here anyways.

This was done in Maya 2022 software. We were given the "model" of the hallway and asked to light it different ways. I'm using all "area lights" with an "aiAtmosphericVolume" fog effect. What really helped me was figuring out how to use the "Spread" attribute in Maya to manipulate the lights. It really gives you a lot more control.

Being able to make this makes me really happy, especially because I was struggling with digital lighting a lot before this. It's really incredible how much knowing one trick from online can make all the difference with these kinds of software.

Praise God. This work is yours as much as it is mine. Thank you. God's will be done.
