Looking Up

Portrait work based on my improving face construction.

I recently started watching Mob Psycho 100. I like it a lot because it's more relaxed than a lot of other good Shonen titles. I'm a big fan of One Punch Man, so I'm happy to see more of the author's work. It also reminds me that art skills don't have to be technically groundbreaking to create something beautiful. I really appreciate that. I sketched out this image based on one in the show because I want to learn how to draw the head from underneath or even a little bit angled up.

Practice with the technique learned from the image above this one.

Breakdown. Part of the trick is to deform the pupils the way they appear when the eyes rotate, since they're a sphere. See how these are more oval than circular?

Another drawing based on an image from Mob Psycho. I like how simple this one is.

I recently saw Akira for the first time. Absolutely beautiful. I love the destruction. I also really like how the human characters are drawn in Akira. So I used some references and drew based on them.

Another drawing based on Akira.

Another character from Akira. I like the hands here.

I'm particularly fond of Kaori's design from Akira. It's so proportional and grounded compared to the characters I'm used to seeing.

Another attempt at making the character look as if their head is angled up. Expect more of this.

More practice I did of a character looking up while a had a few minutes at work.

You'll notice these are both done in pen. It was on some scrap paper.

God be with me. Thanks for your help with everything. I love you. God save me.

The Power of Haannnnds!

Hand drawings I did with my own hands as reference. Improvement is incremental. I've learned it helps when I draw the hands as a deformed box initially and then go from there. It's an important step I often catch myself forgetting. We go on.

God's will be done. I love you.

With Everything

This is a series of images I did in class that was inspired by the short animation Connect on YouTube. I just felt like making it. I think my work on proportions and faces has improved, so I'm actually quite happy with these. I also think the arms and hands on these are adequate. Onwards and upwards.

I love you God. God be with me now and always.
